Engaging, Exploratory Curriculum

Through Expeditionary Learning and Montessori influences our students explore the world around them through hands on, project based units that take them into the field to learn from experts, to experience the natural world in person, and to synthesize their knowledge through creative narrations and artwork.

They’ll head to the coast to learn about tides and the ecosystem of the tide pools, meet with Tahoe experts to learn about the conservation of Lake Tahoe and go to Placerville to learn about the Gold Rush.

They bring these experiences back to the classroom to reflect and create narratives and art work to express their knowledge of history and science as well as use design skills to solve problems in their local and international communities.

For PE, students explore the trails by foot and bike and head to the slopes for skiing.

These experiences develop the confidence in our students of their abilities mentally, emotionally, and physically, so they can start adulthood with a strong foundation of self and create healthy personal and professional relationships.
